What’s in a name? Avondale looks to find out for its City Center area

The city of Avondale is considering a new name and new branding for its City Center area.

The Avondale City Council will hear potential names for its Center Center development area off Avondale Boulevard near Interstate 10 and Van Buren Street.

The aim is to attract more development, tourism, restaurants and entertainment to the area.

Potential names for the Center Center include ‘The BLVD’, ‘Meridian’, ‘The Meridian’, ‘Victory Lane’, ‘The Vic’, ‘Victory’ and ‘The Dale’.

The Victory names points to Avondale being home to ISM Raceway and its two big Nascar weekends.
