Industrial buildings soon might be able to soar to new heights in Casa Grande, in an effort to attract more businesses.
During a study session of the Casa Grande City Council Monday, council members heard a proposal to raise the maximum building heights on industrial buildings in the light industrial zones of the city.
City Planner Joe Horn said the change is needed to facilitate businesses that show an interest in building manufacturing facilities in the city but that are unable to because of the city’s current height restrictions.
Horn said city staff will accommodate for the extra height by requiring further setbacks and increased landscaping around the new buildings. Horn said the extra space will provide functionality on the inside of the buildings and plans won’t be approved if the industrial business simply wants to have the height for aesthetics.
