A planned adaptive reuse project in the Scottsdale Airpark aims to transform underused second-floor space into loft-style units for small to midsize office tenants.

George Oliver LCC, the Phoenix company behind other adaptive-reuse projects such as Casa in Phoenix and a co-developer of the Quad in south Scottsdale, is partnering with Vancouver-based Kootenay Holdings to revamp the second story of a Scottsdale commercial center into what the developers are calling the Lofts at the District.

Curt Kremer, founder and managing partner of George Oliver, told the Business Journal that the project’s ground floor near 73rd Street and Greenway-Hayden Loop is nearly fully leased and will not be part of the renovation. Most of the ground level is used for retail or showroom space, but the second level has not been occupied.
