Scottsdale looks at rezoning for former semiconductor site

The Scottsdale Planning Commission is scheduled to consider a rezoning request for the redevelopment of a parcel at Thomas and Pima roads.

The larger site was home to a semiconductor plant that closed in 2015. Scottsdale-based Simon CRE is asking the city to change the zoning one a 1-acre parcel from ‘employment’ to ‘commercial’. The latter allows for a wider variety of uses.

A Black Rock Coffee location is also being built west of the parcel under rezoning consideration. The Oregon-based coffee chain has been adding stores in Arizona. A storage facility is also on the site of the former semiconductor plant.

The Pima and Thomas parcel is on the border of Scottsdale and the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community.

The Planning Commission is slated to consider the Simon CRE request at its meeting today.
