By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

Harvest Health is looking to relocate a Glendale medical marijuana dispensary at 59th Avenue and Thunderbird Road.

The new location is in a larger suite in the same shopping center as the existing Harvest of Glendale location. But the short move requires approvals by the city of Glendale including variances to the medical marijuana zoning rules.

Cities have set up specific rules for medical marijuana dispensaries and where they can locate so when they seek even the most minor expansion and relocation that can require more formal and larger approvals from localities

Glendale’s medical marijuana zoning rules require dispensaries to be 500 feet from residential areas. The new Harvest location is 438 feet from a nearby apartment complex.

The company and landlord are asking Glendale for a zoning variance to allow for dispensary in the new location, a former dry cleaners.

Glendale’s Board of Adjustment will consider the request at its meeting tomorrow.
