A new legislative committee is pushing for more information on how groundwater supplies in Pinal County are being used or not used.

Committee Chairman Rep. David Cook, R-Globe, and Reps. Noel Campbell, R-Prescott, and Bret Roberts, R-Maricopa, grilled Arizona Department of Water Resources Director Thomas Buschatzke Wednesday on how the department approves and extends residential developers’ requests for groundwater supplies in Active Management Areas like the one in Pinal County.

Cook, Roberts and Campbell are three of the seven members of the new House Ad Hoc Committee on Groundwater Supply in Pinal County that was created last week. The other members include Reps. Gail Griffin, R-Hereford, Diego Rodriguez, D-Phoenix, and Rosanna Gabaldon, D-Sahuarita. Buschatzke is also a member of the committee.
