A discussion over the new Active Management Area plan for Pinal County grew prickly during a meeting of the Groundwater Users Advisory Council for Pinal County and representatives from the Arizona Department of Water Resources Wednesday morning.
Members of the council raised concerns that ADWR was taking a one-size-fits-all approach to updating the five state Active Management Area plans and that Pinal’s new AMA plan would include a safe-yield goal.
“I have problems with Pinal being lumped into a discussion on safe-yield,” said GUAC member William Collings during an update on the revision timeline for all of Arizona’s AMA plans. “I want to make sure that this does not apply to the Pinal AMA.”
