Arizona shows solid construction job gains

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

Arizona has added the third most construction jobs nationally (behind only Texas and California) and has the second highest growth rate for construction employment.

That is according to the latest numbers from the Associated General Contractors.

Arizona added 16,500 construction jobs the past 12 months, according to the industry group. The added jobs translate into a 10.2 percent annual employment growth rate for construction jobs in Arizona.

Only Nevada, which has some big projects including the new Raiders NFL stadium, had a higher growth rate (12.3 percent). Nevada added 11,100 jobs over the last 12 months, according to AGC.

Arizona’s construction job gains of 16,500 new positions brings the sector’s total statewide employment to 177,500 jobs.

Only much more populated Texas (52,000) and California (30,000) added more construction jobs over the past 12 months than Arizona.

New York added 7,900 construction jobs and Florida 16,200 new construction jobs over the past 12 months, according to AGC.
