Phoenix City Councilman Sal DiCiccio is taking aim at a proposal to raise fees on Lyft and Uber ride at Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport.

The Phoenix City Council is looking at a proposal to incrementally raise ride share fees for airport pickups and drops to $5 per ride. Riders are now charged a $2.66 fee to get picked up at Sky Harbor. They are not charged at all right now for being dropped off.

The potential $10 per roundtrip charge would impact business travelers and tourists. It has also stirred opposition from DiCicccio.

“Politicians want to raise taxes on you again! The latest money-grab? A $5 fee increase every time you take Uber or Lyft to/from Sky Harbor. This tax will hurt working men & women throughout the valley. Please RT to spread the word & stop this insane tax,” DiCiccio said via Twitter.
