Infill housing plans look to overcome skeptical neighbors

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

Brighton Companies LLC is proposing an infill housing development with duplexes on a 4.51-acre site on Guadalupe Road near the Loop 202 freeway.

The Mesa City Council will consider a rezoning request from Brighton to allow for the multiple residences on the site. The property is currently zoned for single family residential.

Brighton’s Eastridge Manor duplex subdivision will be a for-sale development with 36 units.

The rezoning approval was recommended by city staff but the Mesa Planning and Zoning Commission voted to deny it by 3-2 vote. Some neighbors near the project worry about increased traffic and prefer a single-family home development on the site.
