2 mayoral candidates and 5 council candidates qualify for Tempe’s March ballot. Here’s who’s running

Seven candidates — ranging from incumbents to a rocker who’s a fixture in the local music scene — have qualified for the March 10 primary election ballot.

Mayor Mark Mitchell, who ran unopposed in 2016, will face off against former council colleague Corey Woods.

Five others are vying for three open City Council seats.

Here’s a look at who’s running.

City Council will see at least one new face

Councilmembers Randy Keating and Joel Navarro, who are up for reelection, both qualified for the March ballot.  

At least one newcomer is guaranteed to join the council as voters will choose someone to fill the seat vacated in April by ousted Councilman Kolby Granville.
