Lauren Grey stands with her horse, Memo, and her neighbor, Diane Gray, on a vacant lot in north Scottsdale where luxury homes could be built.
The 5.75-acre lot is off Jenan Drive, a sleepy one-lane street peppered with horse properties and homes on three-quarter-acre lots. Moments earlier, a coyote ran past and scaled the wall of a neighboring home.
Some residents in the area say the proposed Camelot Homes’ development, called the Enclave, will increase traffic, reduce open space and lower their property values.
The neighbors are asking the city to reject a zoning request they say would triple the number of homes on the street and ruin the character of their neighborhood.
