The city of Phoenix is working to improve and revitalize a west side corridor along 27th Avenue between McDowell Road and Dunlap Avenue.
A Phoenix City Council subcommittee will get an update on the efforts on Wednesday.
The city wants to clean up blighted properties and improve streetscaping and community infrastructure to attract new economic development and investment to the working-class area.
According to a city report, more than 2,700 notices for property blight have been issued and graffiti has been removed from 5,700 properties.
The city has installed new LED streetlights along the corridor and has or will be improving street pavement, streetscaping and landscaping along the West Phoenix corridor.
