West Valley land could be annexed by Glendale and then El Mirage

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

The city of Glendale is considering annexing land near Luke Air Force Base but would then allow the landowner to de-annex part of the land as part of its development plans in neighboring El Mirage.

The John F. Long Family Revocable Trust owns the unincorporated land which totals 6.3 acres at the northwest corner. The land is slated to be part of the Trust’s Copperwing Logistics Center development.

The Glendale City Council will be briefed on the plans at its Nov. 26 meeting.

If Glendale approves the annexation, John F. Long will then petition to de-annex part of the land and then have it annexed into El Mirage were the Copperwing project is located.

A strip of the potentially annexed property would remain in Glendale along Northern Parkway to help preserve the city’s ability to annex other adjacent unincorporated parcels.

John F. Long would then look to El Mirage to annex the remaining land.
