Why Maracay is racking up big sales on South Mountain

Since it opened Avance, an upscale urban community at the base of South Mountain in May, Scottsdale-based Maracay has recently sold its 110th home.

That means Maracay has less than 300 properties left to sell in the 400-home gated community bounded by 14th and seventh streets on east and west, and Dobbins Road on the north. Backing up to the 16,000-acre South Mountain Park on the south, the community is 6 miles from downtown Phoenix.

That’s an impressive number of homes sold in such a short period of time — especially during the hot summer months when sales usually slow down, said Ryan Brault, regional director of the Arizona and Las Vegas markets for Metrostudy.
