The city of Casa Grande is hoping to draw a better variety of housing products for local families with a change to the city’s general plan.
The City Council approved a change Monday that redefines the density of residential buildings on property that has been zoned for large mixed-use. The change will reduce the number of residential units on such a parcel, but it will also provide developers with greater flexibility in the kinds of housing options they can provide.
The large mixed-use category was created last year, explained City Planner Jim Gagliardi. The category is designed for developments that may have a variety of uses, such as shopping, residential, business and recreation.
