Loop 202 opening nears, awaiting final state inspection

The 22-mile extension of Loop 202 will open to traffic sometime after Dec. 18, as soon as the freeway has passed a final inspection, Arizona Department of Transportation officials said.

The exact time and date of the freeway opening will depend on the successful inspection. But the department is hosting a pre-opening event on Dec. 18 to highlight the anticipated opening of the Congressman Ed Pastor Freeway.

Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey, Phoenix Mayor Kate Gallego, Gila River Indian Community Gov. Stephen Roe Lewis, members of Pastor’s family and other officials will mark the occasion.
