Medical marijuana cultivation at Florence Junction OK’d

A medical marijuana cultivation and production center on 37 acres in the northwest corner of Florence Junction received a special use permit to operate Wednesday from the Pinal County Board of Supervisors.

The supervisors will consider whether to renew the permit each year, and the applicant, Navel Land and Cattle Company LLC, has one year to submit a site plan application. The closest cities are Apache Junction and Superior, according to county staff.

Most of the facility, at U.S. 60 and State Route 79, will consist of greenhouses. It will not be a dispensary or open to the public. It is expected to have between 50 and 100 employees, according to county planning staff.
