Regulations in Flagstaff’s city code started to catch up to the demand for large developments in 2019, highlighting the year’s top stories.
Zoning changes
After years of work, and public outrage over several high-profile student-focused developments, city staff introduced several amendments to the city’s zoning code to Flagstaff City Council and the community.
Although the amendments are still being reviewed by the public and have yet to pass either the Planning and Zoning Commission or the city council, they could give the city far more control over what large dormitory style developments look like and where they are built.
