NIMBY battle rages in San Diego

Residents are fighting plans to add 1,400 residential units

According to the San Diego Union-Tribune, residents of Rancho Penasquitos, a suburban neighborhood about 20 miles north of downtown San Diego, are up in arms over a proposal to add 1,400 residential units. The location for the development is at an intersection that serves as an entry point to a neighborhood of mostly single-family homes. The residents are citing possible damage to the community character, school overcrowding and challenges to the surrounding infrastructure.
