El Mirage Mayor Alexis Hermosillo declared a state of emergency Tuesday night in response to the spread of COVID-19.
The city will close public access to its facilities through April 3 and cancel special events and community workshops through May 10.
Essential services like police, fire, water, sewer and trash services will continue to operate.
“The Proclamation provides the City Manager with clarity and the ability to act decisively which is vital to protecting public health and responding to the evolving threats posed by COVID-19,” Ms. Hermosillo stated.
