Frank Lloyd Wright architecture school board reverses decision to close down

Only weeks after the board that oversees the operation of the famed Valley architecture school established by Frank Lloyd Wright had said the school would close later this year, it voted Thursday to reverse that decision and is seeking to keep the school operating.

School officials said it will still be up to the Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation to decide if the school would remain open. It currently has 25 students enrolled.

The School of Architecture at Taliesin, or SOAT, was established in 1932 when it was known as the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture. It was renamed in 2017. Students split their time between Wright’s two retreats, the Taliesin West location in Scottsdale and the Taliesin school in Spring Green, Wisconsin.
