Gilbert looks at bungalows for vacant Gilbert Road property

The Gilbert Town Council is scheduled to consider plans to develop a vacant 15.9-acre parcel on Gilbert Road near Houston Avenue into a single-story multifamily development with 165 detached and semi-detached single-family units.

The land, which south of Baseline Road and north of Guadalupe Road, is zoned commercial. The Gilbert Town is being asked to rezone the property from commercial to a low-density multifamily designation.

The land is currently owned by Gilbert Ash Development LLC (M. Jamil Akhtar and Sun Medical Management) and an affiliate of Cavan Companies wants to the develop the new project called Bungalows on Ash.

The Town Council is slated to vote on the rezoning at its March 24th meeting.  Gilbert, like other jurisdictions, is holding a meetings online in response to the Coronavirus.
