Metro Phoenix tops the US for biggest rent increases. How affordable is your city?

New apartments keep going up across metro Phoenix, and so do rents.

The combination leaves a lot of renters feeling down.

Despite thousands of new apartments, the Phoenix area is still close to leading the nation for rent increases.

Some market watchers, including me, thought the rampant new development and redevelopment of old apartments might put some downward pressure on monthly rents.

It hasn’t happened yet.
