The city of Scottsdale wants to create a new arts-oriented pocket park in Old Town’s Civic Center Plaza.

The Scottsdale City Council will look at a $150,000 budget transfer to help with development of the new pocket park at its March 17th meeting.

City staff and Scottsdale Arts are working to pick an artist to help lead the creative efforts for the new pocket park.

The city hopes to the new park serve as a gateway and improve the pedestrian experience at the Civic Center Plaza.

Old Town Scottsdale is known for its arts and culture and is one of top tourist destinations in the Southwest. It is also one of the more pedestrian friendly locations in sprawling and car oriented metro Phoenix.
