RLG Coronavirus Task Force Report (Part V): Tips for family law

By Audra Petrolle, Family Law Attorney at Rose Law Group

The Coronavirus is a unique challenge, and not quite like anything we have seen before. Here’s the first tip on how families can stay prepared, healthy, and connected.

  1. Tip #1 – Have a Plan

Now, is the time to have a plan and be as prepared as possible. So, take this opportunity to conduct a self-inventory of your family’s affairs. Do you have someone designated to care for your children in the event you are no longer able to, someone designated to make medical decisions on your behalf in the event you are no longer able to, someone designated to handle your financial affairs in the event you are no longer able to? Do you have any sort of end of life directive or last wishes that you would like carried out? In short, now is the time consider getting a medical power of attorney, financial power of attorney, will, trust or other estate planning material in place to help tackle these issues before they arise.
