10-year Buckeye City Council member resigns to run for mayor

Buckeye City Councilman Eric Orsborn resigned from the City Council on Thursday to run for mayor.

Orsborn resigned just days before the April 6 deadline to officially run for office on the Aug. 4 ballot.

Mayor Jackie Meck, a political mainstay in the southwest Valley, announced earlier this year that he would not run for reelection.

Also up for grabs in August are three City Council seats, though only the incumbents so far have entered the race.

Orsborn did not respond to a request for comment.
