Five hotels in Scottsdale, Phoenix and Chandler are offering free stays for nurses, doctors and other health care workers on the front lines of the Coronavirus pandemic. The hotels are all owned by Scottsdale-based real estate investment firm Caliber.
The Crowne Plaza Phoenix Airport, Hampton Inn and Suites Scottsdale Riverwalk, Holiday Inn Chandler and Holiday Inn Phoenix Airport North are all still open to serve airline crews and other essential workers.
Caliber CEO Chris Loeffler said his company is offering five free rooms each night at each of those properties for use by frontline medical and health care employees of major health care providers including HonorHealth, Banner Health, Mayo Clinic, Dignity Health and Valleywise Health.
The offer started April 1st and runs through May 31st.
It amounts to 1,500 room nights with a value of $225,000.
“After a thorough review of our hotels and their related performance in 2020, Caliber has decided to not close our properties as we are currently supporting airline crews, essential service workers and others,” said Caliber CEO Chris Loeffler. “Considering that, we have excess capacity to house individuals affected by the current health situation, and providing complimentary nights is a way that our company can give back to those working hard for the rest of us.”
The free rooms for healthy medical workers program is called ‘Operation Sleep Safe’.
Caliber COO Jennifer Schrader said the hotel owner could expand the program. “Caliber is happy to expand the program if the need persists and we have available guest capacity. All of us need to come together and help as best we can,” she said.
