The election slate in La Paz County includes an open Board of Supervisors seat and potentially contentious contest for County Attorney.
Supervisor D.L. Wilson is retiring at the end of the year leaving his board seat open. The only candidate on the ballot for that seat is Parker Realtor David Plunkett.
The Republican is owner of David Plunkett Realty and advocates for property rights.
Supervisor Duce Minor will face a Republican primary challenge from La Paz County Community Development Director Jeff McCormick. Gary “Zak” Zakrajsek is running in the primary against incumbent Supervisor Holly Irwin in the McMullen Valley area. He ran as independent losing to Irwin in 2016.
Economic development and jobs are key issues in La Paz, which is voted overwhelming for Donald Trump in 2016.
The most contentious race could be for La Paz County Attorney where current County Attorney Tony Rogers is being challenged by former Chief Deputy Attorney Karen Hobbs. Rogers fired Hobbs last Friday, according to a recent report by Parker Live. Both are running as Republicans.
