The Gilbert Town Council has approved rezoning 16.62 acres near Ray Road and San Tan Parkway for a proposed apartment complex.
The land is currently zoned for commercial use. The Council approved the zoning change to multifamily residential at its April 7th meeting.
Plans call for a 159-unit multifamily development called The Bungalows on Ray.
Development plans call for a one-story project with apartment homes being built in clusters. There will be 52 one-bedroom, 72 two-bedroom and 35 three-bedroom units at the Gilbert development. The land is currently undeveloped.
The property is owned by Michael B. Wood, according to town documents.
