The Gilbert Town Council appointed transportation engineer Yung Koprowski to fill the vacant seat left by Jordan Ray, who resigned on April 6 to run for justice of the peace.

Koprowski is the third council appointee in just more than a month. She will serve until January 2023, filling more than 2½ years left on Ray’s term.

Council members voted 4-2 on Tuesday to appoint Koprowski after a 25-minute discussion behind closed doors. Councilmembers Jared Taylor and Aimee Yentes voted “no.”

Koprowski is the founder and head of Y2K Engineering, a transportation engineering firm. She has lived in Gilbert for 12 years and served as vice chair of the Citizens Transportation Task Force this year.
