Gilbert is being asked to rezone 18.83 acres of land at Elliot and McQueen roads for a planned 172,000-square-foot expansion of an existing manufacturing site.

The land is currently zoned for light industrial. The Gilbert Town Council is being asked to rezone the site general industrial to allow for more potential industrial, manufacturing and research and development uses.

The Gilbert Council is scheduled to vote in the rezoning May 5th.

The land is owned by SunCap Property Group and Orbital Sciences Corp., according to filings with the town of Gilbert. Orbital is a subsidiary of Northrop Grumman.

Plans call for a new 172,000-square-foot building at the site to be developed in two phases, according to town documents.
