As Arizona retailers and restaurants start welcoming customers back into their spaces, the owners of the Valley’s shopping malls and retail centers are caught in a delicate balancing act.
Shopping centers want customers back on their properties driving revenue to tenants. They’re going to need plenty of them to stem the collapse in retail sales during the past two months, which the U.S. Census Bureau pegged at a decline of 8.3% in March and a stunning fall of 16.4% in April.
