Delays emerge in Museum Square deal

Museum Square, one of the first projects to take advantage of 150-foot height allowances approved by City Council in 2018, won City Council approval in October 2019.

Nearly seven months after the Scottsdale City Council approved the Museum Square deal, the city and developer still have not finalized a land sale that would give the city a much- needed infusion of millions of dollars.

That money could help the city as it grapples with the economic ramifications of business closures caused by the coronavirus pandemic.

The development promised to bring a 190-room hotel, three condominium buildings and an apartment building totaling 346 units to the Arts District downtown – along with a slew of public improvements that include a plaza, pedestrian connections and new traffic signals.
