Gilbert approves Vestar development plans

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

The Gilbert Town Council voted 7-0 yesterday to rezone 54.7 acres at Higley and Riggs Roads for a proposed housing and commercial development from Vestar.

Phoenix-based Vestar is the developer of Tempe Marketplace and Desert Ridge Marketplace.

Vestar wants to bring 118 homes to a new master planned community called Cordillera as well as 102,400 square feet of retail and commercial space.

The Gilbert Council approved rezoning the land for the residential and retail / restaurant components. The land is vacant and was previously a dairy farm.
