Macy’s Inc. will open its seven Phoenix area stores today as Arizona economy gradually reopens after COVID-19 shutdowns.
The department store will also offer curbside pickup at its stores.
Macy’s is asking employees to wear face masks and employees will also conduct daily ‘wellness checks’ before reporting to work.
The retailer has installed plexiglass at cashier stations and has other social distancing measures in place.
Stores will be open 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
Macy’s has stores at Scottsdale Fashion Square, Biltmore Fashion Park, Arrowhead Towne Center, San Tan Village, Superstition Springs Mall, Paradise Valley Mall and Chandler Fashion Center.
Curbside pick-up will be available at the reopening stores from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“We are ready to welcome our customers back to Macy’s stores in the Phoenix community,” said Marc Mastronardi, chief stores officer at Macy’s. “We’re introducing new precautions to keep your family and ours safe and are now offering curbside pick-up to make getting what you want quick and easy. Our teams have come together and supported each other and our communities throughout this challenging time, and we look forward to safely serving our customers whenever they are ready to shop.”
COVID-19 has hit retailers hard prompting bankruptcies and some permanent store closures for a sector already struggling to compete with e-commerce.
