Opus Group looks to bring apartments, live-work units to former car dealership site in Mesa

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

The Opus Group has submitted plans with the city of Mesa for a proposed redevelopment of a former car dealership property on Main Street.

The 9.7-acre property is right on Main Street in between Hibbert and Sirrine Streets. It is the former home to the Brown & Brown car dealership which closed and the buildings on the property were demolished in 2017.

Opus Group wants to build 345 multifamily residential units and 13,400 square feet of retail on the property which encompasses a full city block. Plans also call for live-work units and commercial space. The property is on Metro light rail on the east end of downtown Mesa.

The project is called the Mesa Arts District Lofts, according to site plans filed with the city of Mesa.  The city of Mesa has titled the zoning and development case the Opus Downtown Mesa Apartments.
