Arizona ranks 17th among U.S. states when it comes to having the most vulnerable populations to COVID-19.

Financial research firm WalletHub looked state populations and the number of people most at risk for COVID-19. That includes senior populations, numbers of homeless persons, persons with pre-existing medical conditions as well as those financially stressed before and during the pandemic.

Arizona ranks 17th overall and 7th among U.S. states for the most financial vulnerability to COVID-19 and its impacts. The rankings also looked at the rise in unemployment claims and affordable housing.

West Virginia and Louisiana have the most vulnerable populations to COVID-19 and its health and economic impacts. Utah and Colorado have the least, according to WalletHub.

California ranks 28th. New York (which has had the most COVID-19 cases and deaths) ranks 28th. Texas ranks 15th on the list and Florida 7th.
