COVID-19 hospitalizations continue to hit records as Arizona reports new high in cases

Thursday’s report of 2,519 new cases was the largest-ever number of cases reported in a single day.

Another record number of positive COVID-19 cases was reported by the state Thursday, along with new highs for hospitalizations, as the virus continues its spike in Arizona.

Thursday’s report of 2,519 new cases was the largest-ever number of cases reported in a single day. Before that, the record was 2,392 new cases, reported Tuesday. 

Emergency department visits and counts of inpatient beds and ICU beds in use for suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients hit their highest-ever numbers Wednesday, according to hospital data.

The highest jump came in inpatient beds, with 1,667 beds occupied by suspected and confirmed COVID-19 patients Wednesday, compared with 1,582 Tuesday.
