Did Scottsdale mall looting prompt meeting between Arizona’s governor and black faith leaders?

As a group broke windows and pillaged shops at Scottsdale Fashion Square on the last Saturday of May, it didn’t seem that the looting would help end police brutality or improve race relations.

But, it was the ransacking of that tony mall that helped spark a hastily-called meeting the next day between Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey and a group of African American clergy.

That same night saw the third successive evening of protests in downtown Phoenix. But it was not those marches that spurred the sit-down with the governor.
