Scottsdale looks at ASU sustainability partnership to increase shade

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

The city of Scottsdale is considering partnering with Arizona State University on sustainability efforts and increasing shade in the city.

The Scottsdale City Council is scheduled tomorrow to consider moving forward with a contract with Arizona State University’s Rob and Melani Walton Sustainability Solution Services.

The effort would have a focus on increasing shade and mitigating heat island effects in Scottsdale and its Sonoran Desert location.

The city has a projected $100,000 allocated for the ASU sustainability contract with the same amount potentially slated for the next 2 years.

If approved the contract would run from July 2020 to the end of June 2023.
