Self-guided tours of homes, apartments looks to be lasting trend

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

Private self-guided tours of homes and apartments have been prevalent with social distancing and concerns about COVID-19 at the forefront.

Home builders and apartments complexes have been offering self-guided tours where properties can be viewed without an agent.  Tenants and buyers can book and view properties without personally interacting with agents or property managers.

Those self-guided tours may be a lasting trend and offering to renters and prospective home buyers, according to new survey by RentCafe.

The survey of 3,500 Americans found 83 percent of them would use self-guided tours to look at apartments even with many complexes offering virtual tours.

RentCafe also found 63 percent of renters liked self-guided tours because they can look at units at their own pace. Fifty nine percent cited social distancing in their preference for private tours without agents.
