Tucson, Pima County partnering with Tempe firm to help local shops, restaurants

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

The city of Tucson and Pima County are teaming with a Tempe-based social media company that helps local business generate customers.
The Tucson partnership with Hownd aims to help local merchants and restaurants as they navigate the COVID-19 pandemic and its economic impacts.

Hownd is launching a Shop Our Local Deals Initiative in Tucson. It is modeled after a similar effort the foot traffic generating firm has been doing in Tempe.

Pima County and the city of Tucson are initially putting $40,000 into the program. That will pay for the fees Hownd charges participating businesses for customer traffic generation. The Tempe company only charges businesses when it brings those merchants new paying customers.
Hownd creates and markets gift cards, gift vouchers, coupons and other promotions and markets those via the MyHownd app and social media.

Tempe started its partnership with Hownd in April.
