Former mayor of Superior Roy Chavez dies due to COVID-19 complications

A former mayor of Superior has died due to complications from COVID-19 according to a social media post from the town’s current mayor.

Superior Mayor Mila Besich posted on Facebook Friday evening saying the former mayor, Roy Chavez, died from COVID-19.

“I offer my condolences to the family of Roy Chavez on behalf of the Town of Superior,” Besich posted. “He was our first direct elected mayor, he served as our Town Manager and was a tireless volunteer for many community organizations.”

Besich didn’t specify the exact date of Chavez’s death.
