Gilbert outlines draft design guidelines for Heritage District

By Mike Sunnucks | Rose Law Group Reporter

The town of Gilbert is looking at the future of its popular Heritage District and design guidelines for future commercial and residential developments, public spaces and how to keep the area pedestrian friendly.

The Gilbert Redevelopment Commission will hold a virtual meeting this evening (July 15th) on draft design guidelines the town is looking at for the district.

The Heritage District is located on Gilbert Road north of Elliott Road. It includes popular restaurants. There are plans for a new mixed-use development at Gilbert Road and Juniper Avenue.

The draft design guidelines look at various aspects of the architectural and development character of the areas. That includes areas for festivals and public events, public art, awnings and shade structures, pedestrian improvements and development standards for new projects and renovations.
