Mesa Mayor John Giles leads in reelection bid, while Spilsbury could unseat Whittaker

Mesa’s John Giles is headed to another term as mayor while newcomer Julie Spilsbury has unseated incumbent City Council member Jeremy Whittaker if election results on Wednesday morning hold.

Giles said he was feeling “really good” about the initial returns on Tuesday night.  

“It’s never over ‘til it’s over, but it’s very encouraging results,” he said. “I’m just really grateful to the residents of Mesa who voted overwhelming to keep going in a positive direction.”
