Scottsdale has reached a deal to keep Axon, which manufactures stun guns and body cameras often used by police, in the city as the company plans to expand its headquarters and add 650 jobs over the next five years.
Axon will receive up to $12 million from the city in the coming years as it makes improvements to the land it plans to buy and redevelop near Mayo Boulevard and Hayden Road, according to a development agreement the City Council approved on Tuesday.
The company’s expansion is planned for Crossroads East, which comprises roughly 1,000 acres of state trust land on both sides of Loop 101, where the city also agreed in 2018 to reimburse Nationwide for similar infrastructure costs.
