Scottsdale ranks as one of the best places in the country to retire.
That is according to a new study by financial services firm WalletHub.
Scottsdale ranks as the 6th best retirement destination in the ranking which looks at quality of life, affordability, access to health care and activities such as recreation and the arts.
Scottsdale ranks 2nd on the list for quality of life but 66th for affordability.
Overall only Orlando, Tampa, Charleston, South Carolina and Fort Lauderdale rank better. Florida’s lack of state income taxes and tax benefits for seniors helped propel Florida cities to the top of the list.
Among other Arizona cities, Tempe ranks as the 19th best city to retire. Tucson is 43rd, Gilbert 47th, Chandler 66th, Peoria 70th, Phoenix 97th and Mesa 105th.
Newark, New Jersey, Stockton, California and Bridgeport, Connecticut rank as the worst retirement cities, according to Wallet Hub.
