Surprise councilmember-elect Jack Hastings asks incumbent to resign

An incoming Surprise City Council member who already has brought drama to a fairly amicable group is now calling for his predecessor to resign early so he can take his seat immediately. 

Councilmember-elect Jack Hastings, who defeated incumbent Councilmember David Sanders in the August primary election, asked Sanders to resign in a recent news release. He told The Arizona Republic that voters want him in the seat, and resigning is the right thing for Sanders to do.

“I’m ready to start,” Hastings said.
