3TV / CBS5 covers announcement of legal action challenging Prop. 208

A Valley business is planning to file a lawsuit challenging the constitutionality of Prop 208. Voters passed the prop earlier this month-which raises taxes on the wealthiest Arizonans to raise money for education. The lawsuit will question whether it’s constitutional for a prop to create a tax hike instead of the state legislature. The CEO of clothing store “My Sister’s Closet”, Ann Siner, is one of the plaintiffs in the lawsuit.

Siner says she’s in favor of funding education–but Prop 208 is the wrong way to do it. She says, “It is the largest tax increase in state history and ill time in state history people who own business are job creators and be hard hit we’ve trying to recover from covid and now we are kicked in the gut as we are trying to get up.”

The lawsuit will be filed the day the state certifies the election results…which is expected to be at the end of the month.
